Nvidia said it has seen strong demand from customers in China for its H200 chip, which the Donald Trump administration said it would consider allowing the chipmaker to ship to that country.
Nvidia's chief financial officer, Colette Criss, drew analysts' attention on Monday during a meeting at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, noting that the license applications had been submitted and that the government was deciding what to do with them. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang described the application as strong.
Adequate supplies and regulatory hurdles
Chris said that regardless of the level of approval for licenses, Nvidia has sufficient supplies to serve customers in the Asian country, without affecting the company's ability to ship to customers elsewhere in the world.
Nvidia will also need the Chinese government to allow companies in the country to purchase and use American products.
Beijing had previously discouraged government agencies and companies there from using an earlier, less powerful design, called H20.
