Etihad Airways Emirates has recorded a positive improvement in the performance of its main operations by 31% during 2019 to achieve revenues of $ 5.6 billion.


According to Emirates News Agency, the company has achieved an increase in the cumulative performance rate of major works by 55 per cent since 2017 as the success of the business transformation program adopted by Etihad Airways plays a major factor in achieving this positive performance, according to the financial results issued by the company.


As part of the strategy of shifting and controlling costs, Etihad managed to reduce total operating expenses due to the positive trend in fuel prices, and financing expenditures remained constant despite the entry of new aircraft into the fleet.
In spite of the challenges witnessed by the global travel markets, Etihad managed to raise the seat occupancy rate by 78.7% and transport 17.5 million passengers.


Tony Douglas, CEO of Etihad Aviation Group, said: Thanks to adopting innovative ways and solutions in our operations, we managed to reduce operating expenses and raise the rate of return and seat occupancy rate and we still have a lot of work to do, but the positive results we have achieved since 2017 and the achievement of expectations exceeding us To insist on continuing to take the necessary steps that ensure the implementation of the targeted plans and the way forward in achieving the goals of the business transformation program.

Etihad Commitment committed to the transformation strategy during the year 2019, when the total freight load that was covered reached 635 thousand tons, while the fourth quarter of last year recorded an average tonnage per km, an increase of 5.6 per cent compared to the same period of 2018, with an increase of 1.7 points Celsius in load occupancy rate.


The company had 101 aircraft, consisting of 95 passenger aircraft and six cargo planes, with an average age of 5.3 years, at the end of 2019, while the company had 76 destinations.


Etihad continues to strengthen the partnership with the symbol to provide wider options to its guests around the world through an integrated network of destinations comprising more than 400 destinations with 56 partners in the aviation sector. The number of partnership trips with the code reached about 17,700 trips.


In January 2019, Etihad Airways operated a biofuel flight on a Boeing 787-9 from Abu Dhabi to Amsterdam, the first flight partly dependent on biofuels derived from the seeds of the salicorna plant.


Etihad continued to cooperate with the relevant authorities to attract and train Emirati women and citizens to support the sustainability of the Emiratization process in the aviation sector through technical programs in order to qualify them to lead the aviation sector in the country.
