According to Reuters, the two employees who lost their jobs on Wednesday and the employee who kept her job, said that they were informed of the demobilization of about 40% of the employees in Uber offices in Egypt. p>
They added that the total number of employees was between 650 and 700.
This came as Uber announced that it would cut about 3,700 full-time jobs globally, which equated to 17% of its employees.
A company spokesperson declined to give details of the layoffs in Egypt, but said the changes included 46 countries in total.
Egypt, with a population of more than 100 million, is the largest market in the Middle East for taxi reservation services and was among the ten largest markets for Uber globally.
