Emirates Airlines has requested its employees to obtain a leave without pay for one month due to the spread of the Corona virus, which led to the cancellation of flights around the world.
According to Reuters, Emirates Airlines canceled flights to Iran, Bahrain and most destinations in China due to the virus, and countries around the world imposed strict restrictions on the entry of foreigners.
Chief Operating Officer Adel Ahmed Al-Reda said in a statement on Tuesday that the company has resources in excess of its requirements due to the reduction in frequency of flights or the cancellation of some destinations.
He added that, given that additional resources have become available and the fact that many employees want to take advantage of their leave, the company has offered them an option to use a vacation or apply for voluntary unpaid leave of up to one month at a time.
Reuters reported on Sunday, citing an email sent internally at Emirates Group, the government-owned holding company that includes Emirates Airlines among its assets, that the group asked employees to consider taking unpaid and unpaid holidays as it seeks to deal with a slowdown it described as noticeable in its activities.
The group has more than one hundred thousand employees, including more than 21 thousand crew crews and four thousand pilots, by the end of March 2019, which is the end of the group's past fiscal year.
