The inflation rate in Saudi Arabia increased by 3.1% in September 2022, compared to the same month last year.

According to Arabiya Net, the General Authority for Statistics attributed this rise to the increase in food and beverage prices by 4.3%, and the prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 3.2%.

She explained that the Food and Beverage Department was affected by the increase in food prices by 4.6%, which in turn was affected by the increase in meat and poultry prices by 6.5%.

The rise in this section had a significant impact on the rise in annual inflation in September 2022, given its weight in the index (18.8%).

The authority added that the housing, water, electricity, gas and other types of fuels were affected by a 3.6% increase in housing rental prices, while the transportation department recorded a 3.8% increase, affected by a 4.6% increase in vehicle purchase prices.

According to the data, the consumer price index rose 0.3% on a monthly basis in September, compared to August, as the monthly inflation index was affected by a 1% rise in food prices.
