Eurozone retail sales rose more than expected in May after falling in April, driven mainly by non-food products and motor fuels.
According to Arab Net, the European statistics office Eurostat said that retail sales in 19 countries dealing in the euro increased 4.6% on a monthly basis in May and an increase of 9% compared to a year ago.
Economists polled by Reuters had expected a 4.4% monthly increase and 8.2% year-on-year rise.
In April, sales fell 3.9% month-on-month despite a 23.3% year-on-year increase, the bureau said Tuesday.
