The UAE ranked 15th in the world in terms of the number of billionaires, according to the latest report issued by the "Altrata" data and statistics company in cooperation with the American "Wealth X" Foundation.
The total number of billionaires in the UAE reached 45 billionaires in 2021, while their wealth increased by 20% annually to reach $181 billion, according to the "Billionaire Census" report.
In a related context, according to Al Khaleej newspaper, Dubai ranked first in the Middle East and 11 globally among the cities that host the largest number of billionaires, as their number in the emirate increased by One billionaire, bringing the total to 38.
Abu Dhabi ranked eighth in the world in terms of billionaire density, with one billionaire for every 166,088 people.
The ninth edition of this report revealed that the number of global billionaires rose by 3.3% to a total of 3,311 individuals, as their total wealth increased by 17.8 percent to $11.8 trillion.
Billionaires represent less than 1% of the ultra-high net worth individuals (those with net worth of $30 million or more), the report said. 27% of the total wealth of this group.
In a year when the COVID-19 pandemic remains dominant in its impact on the global economy, the report explores changes in the global billionaire population and their total wealth over the past year. It also reveals the main drivers of wealth, regional trends, and rankings of countries and cities where the wealthy are incubating.
In the ranking of countries, the United States ranked first in the world in the number of billionaires, as their number increased by 5.2% to 975 billionaires with a total wealth of $ 4.450 trillion, followed by China is in second place with 400 billionaires, with a fortune of 1.451 trillion dollars.
Germany came in third place with 176 billionaires with a total wealth of $602 billion, India fourth with 124 billionaires with a fortune estimated at $384 billion, and the United Kingdom fifth with 120 Billionaires have a combined fortune of $266 billion.
