The UAE Ministry of Economy said that Minister Abdullah bin Touq al-Marri will head a high-level delegation to Britain this week in an effort to strengthen trade relations, according to Reuters.
Al-Marri and his accompanying delegation will meet with British ministers, officials and representatives of the private sector to discuss the economic policies recently announced by the UAE.
Among these policies is the UAE's endeavor to conclude what it calls a comprehensive economic agreement covering trade and foreign investment affairs with Britain and seven other countries.
The ministry said that the delegation will also discuss ways to develop economic relations and enhance cooperation in the sectors of trade and investment, health care, energy and others.
The UAE announced last week that it had expanded an investment partnership with the British government, pledging to invest 10 billion pounds ($13.7 billion) in the United Kingdom over five years.< /p>
The ministry clarified that the Emirati delegation will also include representatives of local governments, investment companies and the private sector.
She added that Britain is the third largest European trading partner of the UAE in non-oil goods, with trade between the two countries reaching about $8.1 billion in 2020.
