Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al-Baker announced that the company may lay off less than 20% of its employees.

According to Arabiya Net, Al-Baker considered it difficult to say when the company would return to profitability due to the Corona pandemic.

Al-Baker revealed that Qatar Airways would offer to sell 5 737 MAX planes already received, saying that the company was in talks with Airbus and Boeing to delay all deliveries of the suspended planes.

He warned that: aircraft orders may be canceled if aircraft manufacturers do not agree to delay deliveries.

He stressed that the company will not do business in the future with any aircraft manufacturer that makes it difficult to delay the delivery of aircraft.

Meanwhile, he explained that the company would maintain its fleet of 10 Airbus A380 planes without flying until mid-to-late 2021. And he said: Some A380 pilots will drive Flight of the A350.

While noting that the company has not yet requested any support from the Qatari government, he stated: We are still using the cash reserve for operations, and we are examining various tools, including bank financing. < / p>

He continued, saying: We are satisfied with investments in other airlines, and we will continue to partner with Latam operating in South America, stressing that Latam will recover in a more robust way. p>

On the other hand, he stressed that we are not currently planning to purchase stakes in other airlines.

In terms of passenger numbers, he mentioned that the company has transported 1.8 million passengers since March.
