The Central Bank of the Emirates has warned of the increase in fraudulent operations that are carried out using the bank's name and logo through the WhatsApp social media application.
According to Al-Bayan newspaper, the Central Bank called on the public to be alert to fraudulent activities that may reach them through WhatsApp, which bear the name and logo of the Central Bank.
Al-Markazi stressed not to respond to such messages and not to open any attached links to avoid revealing data for fraudulent websites.
The Central Bank stated that it would not request bank data in any way, and also warned against contacting the phone number attached to the messages bearing the name of the Central Bank, with the need to inform Relevant authorities in the event of exposure to fraud.
