The international company "Tesla" has postponed entering the Egyptian market until the completion of the infrastructure of charging stations, taxi stands and maintenance centers.

Related sources told Al-Borsa newspaper that one of the largest car dealerships in the market held negotiations during the last period with the company to import its cars.

And she added that "Tesla" conducted a preliminary study of the Egyptian market, following the submission of the agency's request, and conducting a set of inquiries, which included the readiness of electric charging stations and the availability of maintenance centers, as well. I inquired about the availability of dedicated garages for this type of car.

She explained that the company welcomed the entry into the Egyptian market during the coming period, given the size of the market and the presence of demand for electric cars, but that it depended on the availability of completing the majority of the infrastructure for electric cars.< /p>

The sources said that the first phase of the partnership would have been through the import agency, with the possibility of entering into the manufacturing field at a later stage.

The Minister of Public Business Sector in Egypt, Hisham Tawfik, said earlier that coordination is underway with ministries to provide a package of incentives for consumers to buy electric cars, as the Coordination with the Ministry of Finance to provide a financial incentive for buyers of electric vehicles, and with the Ministry of Electricity to provide an incentive pricing for electricity, and to complete the issuance of licenses for electric and hybrid vehicles by the Ministry of Interior.

He indicated that some proposed places have been identified as public stations for charging electric cars, whether in taxi stands, squares, public garages, and commercial centers.

Tawfik added that the first phase of production includes 25,000 cars, then increased to 50 and 100,000 Egyptian electric cars for export.

Next year, it is scheduled to witness the manufacture of the first Egyptian electric cars E70 through the Nasr Automotive Company, a subsidiary of the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries, in cooperation with the Chinese Dongfeng Company.
