Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation said it will cut its global production plan by 100,000 vehicles to 850,000 next June.
The company attributed, in a statement, today, Tuesday, the production reduction process to a shortage of semiconductors.
The company has not changed its estimate of production of about 9.7 million cars worldwide by March 2023.
The company also announced an additional suspension of its domestic manufacturing lines due to supply shortages caused by the (Covid-19) shutdown in Shanghai.
The suspension will affect a total of 16 lines at 10 factories in May and June, CNBC Arabia reported.
Toyota said it plans to produce about 850,000 cars globally per month on average from June to August 2022.
She added that the lack of chips, the outbreak of the (Covid-19) epidemic and other factors make it difficult to look to the future.
