Tik Tok announced last Friday that certain types of ads will no longer be allowed on its platform. Cryptocurrency-based promotional content is now prohibited.

The new guidelines on the social video publishing site will specifically prevent users from posting promotional content about financial products, regardless of the publisher's geographical location.

As per TikTok's content policy, promotion of all financial services and products is now prohibited globally, according to an FT Advisor article.

TikTok was the focus of the Dogecoin buzz in 2020, when users shared related videos in an effort to get more people involved.

Other social media sites have also hosted a prominent discussion about financial markets in recent months, with stock discussions on Reddit becoming prominent as well.
