The Paris Court of Appeals handed down a one-year suspended prison sentence to Stéphane Richard, chief executive of Orange, for complicity in the misuse of public funds.
According to Arab Net, the Court of Appeal imposed a fine on Richard, who denied carrying out illegal acts, 50,000 euros, knowing that he was acquitted in the first trial.
Richard has made it clear that he will not seek to remain in the CEO position at the end of his third, four-year term, which ends in May 2022, but he would like to remain in the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors.
For his part, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said that heads of state companies should resign if convicted of illegal charges.
