European stock indices rose at the start of trading on Wednesday, October 14, supported by strong sales forecasts for ASML and in anticipation of the release of inflation data in America.

In trading, the Stoxx 600 index rose by about 0.3% to 637 points, while the German DAX climbed by 0.3% to 25,332 points.

Britain's FTSE rose by less than 0.1% to 10,655 points, while France's CAC gained about 0.5% to 7,862 points.

Dutch chipmaker ASML revealed mixed results for the third quarter of this year, while raising its sales forecast for 2026.

The Dutch company raised its revenue forecast for the full year to between 44 billion and 45 billion euros. The company's shares rose by more than 1% at the start of trading.

All eyes are on the US inflation report for last September, which is due to be released later today.

Gains in technology stocks helped European indexes shrug off pessimistic comments from European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, who downplayed expectations of central bank intervention to support European sovereign debt.

In remarks to Reuters on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank meetings, Lagarde said the primary and fundamental solution lies within France, explicitly calling on French lawmakers to address the debt crisis by implementing strict measures to control public finances domestically.
