Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are planning to resume the operation of the Khafji and Abundant oil fields, which are jointly operated by both countries on the first of July 2020.
The Deputy Chief Executive for Financial and Administrative Affairs at Kuwait Gulf Oil Company, Abdullah Al-Shammari, told Reuters that the Al-Khafji field, which was suspended for a month from the first of June this year, will return to production 80 thousand barrels per day next July.
Gulf Oil is the company responsible for managing operations in the area divided by the Kuwaiti side.
Al-Shammari said that the production of Al-Khafji field is expected to reach 100 thousand barrels per day after two months of operation, up to 175 thousand by the end of this year.
Al-Shammari explained that the Wafra field will return to production for the first time after stopping it years ago, with 10 thousand barrels per day in the beginning of July 2020, then it will reach 40 thousand barrels per day Within two weeks, up to 70 thousand barrels per day at the end of August 2020, then 145 thousand barrels per day by the end of this year.
