The German government plans to hold talks on Monday on a nine billion euro ($ 10.1 billion) financial rescue for Lufthansa Airlines.

According to Reuters, billionaire Heinz Herman Thiel, Lufthansa’s largest shareholder, will meet with the German Minister of Economy to discuss the matter.

Telle opposes the terms of the rescue agreement, which will give the German government a direct 20 percent stake in the company as well as two seats in its supervisory board, and has raised its stake in Lufthansa to 15.5 percent. < / p>

Tele proposes indirect participation from the government through the German Development Bank (KFW) as an alternative to the direct government quota.

Lufthansa and the German Finance Ministry declined to comment on the planned meeting. It was not possible to contact Tille for comment.

Like other airlines, Lufthansa has been severely affected by the decline in travel, which is believed to last long due to the Corona virus pandemic, forcing it to request a financial rescue.

The company warned last week that it might not win approval of the agreement during a shareholder vote on Thursday and may file a request to protect from creditors under the German bankruptcy law if it fails to acknowledge Agreement.

If attendance at Thursday's meeting is less than 50 percent, approval of the agreement will require the support of at least two-thirds.
