GMG acquired rights to expand Geant's operations in the Middle East as part of the deal with Urban Foods
According to Al Arabiya Net, GMG has acquired the operations of the French supermarket chain Geant in the UAE from a company owned by Dubai Holding Group, which is affiliated with the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
GMG, which operates pharmacies, food stores, equipment and sports apparel, did not disclose the value of the deal, but said the acquisition was its first step in the food retail sector.
