Russia's Gazprom announced on Sunday in a statement that it had set a new record for daily gas supplies to China via the Siberian Energy Pipeline on December 23.
On December 23, China's request to supply Russian gas via the Siberian Power gas pipeline once again exceeded daily contractual obligations, the Russian TASS agency reported. Gazprom pumped all the required quantities and set a new historical record for daily gas supplies to China.
The company added that the supplies are made under a long-term bilateral agreement for the purchase and sale of gas between Gazprom and the China National Oil Corporation. Gazprom also set the previous historical record for daily gas supplies to China via the Siberian Power Station on December 16.
At the end of 2022, Russia exported 15.5 billion cubic meters of gas to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline. Russian gas supplies to China via the pipeline are expected to exceed the planned level of 22 billion cubic meters in 2023.
The pipeline is expected to reach its design capacity of 38 billion cubic meters in 2025.
