The Lebanese President, General Michel Aoun, announced that Lebanon will enter the club of oil states by launching the first oil well drilling works, considering that it is a historic day that will be remembered by the present and future of Lebanon.


According to Al-Bayan, Aoun said in a speech to the Lebanese people that he had been certain since his return after the years of exile in 2005 that this dream for many of the faithful should be fulfilled.


He added that today, more than ever, we are determined to take responsibility for confronting wrong economic policies and successive and multiple accumulations, and to put an end to them with the aim of stopping the downward path that led us decades ago to what we are.


The Lebanese President stressed the importance of this event, which will be the cornerstone of getting out of the abyss, and a radical stop for transforming our economy from a profitable, profitable economy to a productive economy in which everyone contributes and benefits everyone.


It is noteworthy that the steamboat Tangster Explorer will begin in the coming hours to drill the first oil well in Lebanese territorial waters in Block No. 4 north of Beirut, off the coast of (Keserwan - Jbeil).


In February 2018, a global alliance of Total companies as operator (40%), ENI (40%) and Novatek (20%) signed an exploration and production agreement in Block No. 4 in Lebanese territorial waters.


A contract was signed last year 2019 with the Russian company Rosneft for a period of 20 years, to develop oil storage facilities in the port of Tripoli in northern Lebanon
