Multiverse Labs, an artificial intelligence ecosystem, has launched a new Metaverse City in the United Arab Emirates, in a move that could boost the region's tourism industry.
According to Cowen Telegraph, Multiverse Labs has described the UAE's new metaverse city, dubbed the Sharjahverse, as metaversely realistic and physically accurate covering the emirate's 1,000 square miles.
The virtual city in the UAE will support the local tourism industry and potentially create new metaverse jobs, which is in line with efforts announced by neighboring Dubai earlier this year.
The new city of Metaverse is supported by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, or SCTDA, which is the main government agency tasked with promoting the emirate's tourism industry.
Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, said the new initiative aims to transform the mass market tourism industry towards next-generation sustainable practices. As such, Sharjahverse is said to provide unprecedented access to almost any location in the emirate.
Although not as well known as Dubai, Sharjah is the second largest emirate in the Emirates with a population of nearly 1.8 million people. And through Sharjahverse, the entire emirate will be visible to the public.
