His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, today, Sunday, issued a federal decree appointing Dr. Maryam Butti Mohammed Al Suwaidi as CEO of the Securities and Commodities Authority in the Emirates .

Maryam Al-Suwaidi's assumption of this position is the first woman to hold the position of CEO of the Authority, and she is a member of the Board of Directors of Al Etihad Credit Bureau.

She held several positions in the Authority, including: Executive Vice President for Licensing, Control and Enforcement Sectors between 2009 and 2021, Acting Executive Vice President for Legal Affairs, Issuance and Research, Director of Issuance and Disclosure Department, Director of Legal Affairs and Acting Legal Counsel.

Maryam Al-Suwaidi obtained her Doctor of Laws from the University of London in the United Kingdom, a Masters in Commercial Law from the University of Cardiff Wales in Britain in 2003, and a BA in Sharia and Law from the University of United Arab Emirates in 1991.
