On the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the Emirati company, Masdar for Renewable Energy, signed an agreement with Zambia's state energy company, ZESCO, to develop renewable energy projects, with financing amounting to $2 billion, on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

The President of Zambia, Hakinde Hichilema, said, on his Twitter account, that the projects to be launched with the Emirati Masdar aim to produce 2,000 megawatts upon completion, including giant solar energy projects that will be launched with a production of 500 megawatts.

Masdar - owned by three Emirati national energy companies, ADNOC, Mubadala and Energy Company - aims to enhance its production capacity to reach 100 gigawatts of renewable energy, while the world is increasingly relying on clean energy to curb climate changes resulting from global warming due to carbon emissions.

The UAE, which is preparing this year to host the COP28 Climate Summit, has recently expanded partnerships with other countries to develop renewable energy projects, the latest of which was a partnership with Masdar to implement projects in Azerbaijan and the United States of America.
