The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah achieved a growth of 4% in the number of visitors during 2019, to receive about 1.12 million visitors.
According to the Emirates News Agency, a report issued by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority showed that revenues for available rooms increased strongly to $ 114.90, achieving one of the highest rates in the region, which was clearly reflected in the strong annual occupancy rates, which averaged 74 percent.
The growth in visitor numbers over the past year was the result of a set of activities launched by Ras Al Khaimah, including the Jebel Jais Slide Tour, hosting the Ras Al Khaimah Visual Arts Festival, the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, the Tough Mudder Challenge, and the Emirates Tour race. The activity of companies, meeting activities, incentives, conferences and exhibitions also contributed to the increase in the number of visitors.
The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority has organized 122 orientation tours, participated in 20 tourism exhibitions, and conducted 34 promotional trips in 16 countries. In order to establish its presence in the various countries in which it is active, the authority organized 63 workshops in 12 countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Scandinavia, and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, and these countries have retained their position as the main markets targeted by the emirate.
The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority also revealed a noticeable growth in the number of visitors coming from the main markets of the emirate, as the number of visitors from Russia, India and Kazakhstan increased by 13%, 10.5% and 15% respectively compared to 2018. This trend was reflected in other markets, for example The number of visitors from Poland increased by 14 percent.
Raky Phillips, CEO of the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, said that the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah achieved positive results during 2019, as it recorded an increase of nearly 4 percent in the number of visitors from major markets, which contributed to increasing the total number of visits to the emirate. The implementation of the three-year destination strategy, which aims to attract a wider segment of tourists and visitors, also focused on visitors with high returns such as visitors to meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions events, in addition to giving priority to activities, experiences and adventures that focus on Nature and Culture.
And in the year 2020, it was launched with several important commercial events, highlighting the offers that Ras Al Khaimah offers to the travel and hospitality sector pioneers from around the world, including the Vespo exhibition in Switzerland, and the International Vacations Exhibition 2020, the largest travel fair and consumer in the Netherlands.
