The US House of Representatives Financial Services Committee announced that it will hold a hearing to investigate the events related to the collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange (FTX), on December 13th.
US House of Representatives Financial Services Committee Chair Maxine Waters said lawmakers have scheduled a hearing aimed at exploring the collapse of FTX on December 13, 2022. The hearing is expected to be the first in a series of hearings on the impact of the cryptocurrency exchange. Al-Kubra first declared bankruptcy on November 16, but no date has been set.
The US House Committee also said in its previous announcement that it expects to hear from individuals and companies involved in the events that led to FTX's Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the Delaware area, including former CEO Sam Bankman Fried, Alameda Research, and Binance, according to the report. Queen Telegraph reported.
Although Bankman Fried was said to be residing in the Bahamas at the time of writing, New York Times reporter Andrew Sorkin said on Nov. 24 that the former CEO plans to be interviewed in New York City on Nov. 30 during a conference.
The US Senate Committee on Agriculture has also scheduled a hearing on lessons learned from the FTX crash for December 1, where CFTC Chairman Rustin Behnam will appear as a witness. It is not clear if Bankman-Fried would also speak to the committee if he remained in the country after his trip to New York.
