The report issued by the conference, and Al Arabiya.net shared a copy of it, pointed out that the Corona virus crisis contributed to the acceleration of the launch of digital solutions, tools and services, but the overall impact on the volume of electronic commerce in 2020 is still difficult to determine, according to Shamika Sirimani, the director UNCTAD technology and logistics specialist.


The report predicts that 1.45 billion people worldwide, or one for every 4 people aged 15 and older, made online purchases in 2018.


The organization's data showed that the United States ranked first in terms of the volume of e-commerce that took place, with a value of 8.64 billion dollars, representing about a third of electronic commerce, followed by Japan with 3.28 trillion dollars, then China with 2.3 trillion dollars.


South Korea ranked fourth with $ 1.364 trillion, then the United Kingdom with $ 918 billion, then France with $ 807 billion.
