Barat Albayrak, the Turkish finance minister, announced that the Turkish government supported the economy in the face of the Corona pandemic by 200 billion liras (28.7 billion dollars).
According to Reuters, President Erdogan first announced a package worth 100 billion pounds to support the economy on March 18, postponing debt payments and reducing the tax burden in some sectors. Since then, Ankara has gradually expanded the scope of these measures.
Turkey reported 3,122 new cases of Covid-19 disease on Friday, with a death toll of 2,600.
Al-Bairaq said in a video posted on Twitter that the total value of the steps that we have taken so far amounted to 200 billion pounds.
He added that these measures include financing up to 107.4 billion pounds for about 120 thousand companies to support them in the face of the pandemic. An additional 16.8 billion lire was allocated to support merchants.
The minister stated that 4.4 million families received financial support of 1,000 pounds each, and 22.3 billion pounds were allocated in total to provide the basic needs for about four million citizens.
