China's software and information technology sector recorded a strong expansion in revenue and profits in the first half of this year, according to official data.

According to Arab Net, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed that the total software revenue of the sector amounted to 4.42 trillion yuan, equivalent to 683.68 billion US dollars in the first six months, an increase 23.2%, YoY.

In the January-June period, companies in the sector achieved total profits of nearly 500 billion yuan, an increase of 13.6% over the previous year.

The ministry said the growth rate fell by 12.3 percentage points from the level recorded in the first quarter due to a higher baseline for the same period in 2020.

Software exports reached $24 billion in the first half, up 12.2% year-on-year. Export growth was slightly higher than in the first five months.

Specifically, IT services continued to grow rapidly, with revenue from e-commerce platform technology and integrated circuit design services increasing in the January-June period of 32.4% and 24 .1% in a row.
