Emirates World Aluminum Company, the largest producer of high-quality aluminum in the world, has revealed an important step in the process of completing the bauxite mining project in the Republic of Guinea in West Africa, which is the arrival of the last major project equipment.
The barge, which is comparable to the height of a four-storey building, was shipped to Guinea from a manufacturing facility in Thyssenkrupp, India.
It is to be installed at the end of the project's 1.5-km dock, where it will lift the raw material and load it onto the extended transport system to be transported to the cargo ships docked at the port.
The barge loading crane is the last equipment to arrive in Guinea in the major equipment chain used in the project, which is one of the largest equipment ever used in mining projects in Africa.
Abdullah Jassim Bin Kalban, CEO and Managing Director of Emirates International Aluminum Company, said: Now all the major equipment for our project in Guinea has arrived safely to complete this series of engineering and logistical achievements of the company, which represented a great challenge for us. We are making tremendous progress in the overall construction work which we are looking to finish successfully and start exporting bauxite ore as early as this year.
Guinea Alumina Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Emirates Global Aluminum, is developing a project with a total approved cost of $ 1.4 billion. It is expected that the first bauxite exports from the Guinea Alumina Corporation project will start during the second half of 2019.
