The US administration is currently considering adding the largest Chinese chip maker to the commercial blacklist, as the United States steps up its crackdown on Chinese companies.
According to Reuters, a spokeswoman for the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) said that the ministry is working with other agencies to determine whether to take the step against the International Organization for the Manufacture of Semiconductors ( SMIC, which will force US suppliers to seek special license prior to shipping to the company.
