TikTok CEO Kevin Meyer has resigned amid US pressure on its Chinese owner to sell the popular video app, which the White House says poses a security risk.

According to Arabiyanet, Mayer said in a letter to employees that his decision to leave came after the political environment had changed sharply.
His resignation comes after US President Donald Trump ordered a ban on TikTok, unless Bytedance parent company sold its US operations to an American company within 90 days.

“I have been thinking a lot about what structural changes require for the company, and what that means for the global role in which I have been involved,” Meyer said in the letter. Against this background, and since we were expecting a solution very soon, I heartily wanted to let you all know that I have decided to leave the company.
and former Disney CEO Mayer joined TikTok as CEO in May.
"We appreciate that the political dynamics of the past few months have dramatically changed what will be the scope of Kevin's role in moving forward, and we fully respect his decision," TikTok said in a statement. We thank him for his time in the company and wish him all the best.
