The Emirates Central Cooling System (Empower) has announced the award of a group of contracts for the construction of the fourth refrigeration plant in the Business Bay area in Dubai.

According to Al Khaleej newspaper, the value of investments in that plant is 190 million dirhams, and a production capacity of 50 thousand tons of refrigeration.

The new plant will add to the total cooling capacity of the Empower project in Business Bay, which is the largest district cooling project in the world upon completion, with a total capacity of 350,000 RT from 6 stations Cooling.

The awarding of the contracts comes on the eve of the completion of the foundation work for the construction of the new plant in this region, which is witnessing an increasing demand for cooling services.

The plant will start producing chilled water in the third quarter of 2021.

The CEO of Empower Ahmed Bin Shafar said that the corporation is currently providing district cooling services in Business Bay through 3 stations with a total capacity of 135,000 RT, covering its services More than 62% of buildings located in Business Bay.
