The UAE dirham increased by 1.8% against the currencies of the top 10 import partners from non-dollar-linked countries during 2019. According to the Emirates News Agency, the nominal effective exchange rate, which takes into account all the trading partners of the UAE, showed the same pattern of increase in value. The average nominal effective exchange rate increased by 3.4% in 2019, compared to a decrease of 0.9% in the previous year. <10 dir = "rtl" style = "text-align: justify;"> The top 10 import partners account for about 51.4% of the total imports of the UAE. It is noteworthy that the dirham gained more momentum against the currencies of emerging market economies, during the past year and rose primarily against the Chinese yuan, Indian rupee and the euro.
