Saudi non-oil exports increased by 79.6% in July 2021, compared to July 2020, as the Corona pandemic affected international trade and caused travel difficulties.

According to Arab Net, data from the Saudi General Authority for Statistics stated that the value of Saudi merchandise exports amounted to 91.8 billion riyals in July 2021, compared to 51.1 billion riyals in July 2020.

The authority attributed the increase to the rise in petroleum exports, worth 37.5 billion riyals, equivalent to 112.1%, to about 71 billion riyals. The proportion of petroleum exports to the total exports rose from 65.5 % in July 2020 to 77.4% in July 2021.

Comparing to June 2021, merchandise exports increased by 8.2%, with a value of 7 billion riyals.

Non-oil exports increased by 17.9% in July 2021 to 20.8 billion riyals, compared to 17.6 billion riyals in July 2020.

The most important commodities were plastics, rubber and their products, representing 37.6% of the total non-oil exports, and increased by 47.7% by 2.5 billion riyals.

Imports rose in July 2021, by 13.2%, by 5.3 billion riyals, to reach 45.6 billion riyals, compared to 40.3 billion riyals in July 2020.
