Spain overtook Italy in the healthiest and longest-living index worldwide, according to the Bloomberg Index, which ranks 169 economies according to factors that contribute to public health and longevity.
According to the report, Spain witnessed the highest life expectancy at birth among European Union countries, and it succeeded in jumping from sixth place in 2017, to the first in the world in 2019. < / p>
It is expected that by 2040, Spain will witness its highest life expectancy of 86 years, followed by Japan, Singapore and Switzerland, according to the University of Washington Institute for Health Metrics Evaluation.
The index ranks countries based on variables, including life expectancy and penalties for eating high-fat foods and other for smokers.
The indicator also takes into account the degree to which clean water reaches homes and the level of sanitation in cities.
