Today, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi obtained the certificate of the air operator from the General Authority of Civil Aviation.
According to Al Bayan newspaper, Air Arabia has become the first low-cost budget airline in Abu Dhabi, completing all necessary procedures to start operating its flights from Abu Dhabi, and thus becoming the fifth national carrier in the United Arab Emirates.
Air Arabia’s access to Air Operator certification comes as confirmation that it has all the required professional ingredients, and that it complies with all safety laws necessary for aircraft operations, in addition to proving its ability to operate flights after undergoing a rigorous evaluation process from the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the Emirates.
Air Arabia Abu Dhabi will continue to coordinate closely with the General Authority of Civil Aviation to determine the date for launching its operations, in view of improved market conditions and the lifting of the ban on air travel.
Air Arabia Abu Dhabi is the fruit of the agreement signed between Etihad Airways and Air Arabia to launch an economic airline that will serve as a separate joint venture, and which will be based at Abu Dhabi International Airport as the headquarters and headquarters of its operations.
The new carrier, which complements the services provided by Etihad Airways from Abu Dhabi, aims to meet the growing demand in the region for low-cost air travel.
In this context, Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, said: We extend our congratulations to Air Arabia Abu Dhabi for successfully obtaining the certificate of the air operator after it meets all the required standards and passes all the necessary examination and compliance procedures. While the global aviation sector faces one of the biggest challenges in its history as a result of the repercussions that the (Covid-19) crisis imposed on air traffic.
He continued: Today's announcement comes to reflect the strength and confidence of the aviation sector in the UAE, and its promising prospects in the long run. And in support of the distinguished position of the Emirates as a global hub for air travel thanks to its advanced infrastructure for the aviation sector.
Al-Suwaidi added: We will continue, on our part, to diversify the travel options that allow the residents and visitors of the country to travel to different destinations and explore the whole world. Today’s announcement is a new indication of the ambitious investments that the UAE is dedicating to strengthening the aviation sector, and we look forward to launching Air Arabia’s operations in Abu Dhabi at the appropriate time and to future growth opportunities for the UAE’s aviation sector.
