According to Arabiya Net, an official source said that the Kuwaiti government is moving to amend the residency system and work permits and diversify the forms of residency in the country, without the need for the sponsorship system, for some expatriates who serve the national economy.


The source explained that these steps began in a practical manner, finally, with the concerned authorities identifying some aspects of the beneficiaries of the new residency system, which targets investment owners wishing to implement projects within the country or owners of existing projects, who hold residencies according to the current system Article 18, and they will be granted residencies up to Its term is up to 15 years on state sponsorship, according to Al-Qabas newspaper.

The newspaper reported that this step is considered a dissolution of the current sponsorship system, and it also enhances the plan to attract investments to the country, and grant freedom of movement to company owners, and it is expected that investors will be separated in The system of granting residencies on behalf of the Public Authority for Manpower, and granting them their own residency, according to regulations and legal procedures that will be approved soon.

The official source continued, that the amendment will also extend the mechanism for granting the residence of the guarantor himself by facilitating the procedures for those who wish to them, especially those who have resided in the country for a long time and submitted to it.
