The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continued to increase its holdings of US Treasury bonds at the end of last September for the third month in a row, recording their highest levels in 9 months, but they declined on an annual basis.

The Kingdom's ownership of US bonds increased by 4.55% compared to their value at the end of last August, which amounted to $112 billion at the end.
On an annual basis, the Kingdom’s holding of US bonds decreased by 3.2% at the end of September 2023 compared to the same month last year, a decline equivalent to $3.9 billion, as it was $121 billion at the end of September 2022.

Japan topped the list of largest investors in US Treasury bonds at the end of September 2023. With a total of $1,087.7 billion ($1.087 trillion), followed by China with investments amounting to $778.1 billion, then the United Kingdom with $668.9 billion.
The total value of US bond issuances increased by 4.88% at the end of September 2023 on an annual basis, equivalent to $353.9 billion, but it decreased on a monthly basis by about 1.3%, equivalent to $101.6 billion, compared to the previous month.
