Boeing Dave Calhoun, CEO, announced that the company will reduce employment by about 10% in light of the sharp decline in demand for travel due to the Corona pandemic.
"We have started to move to reduce the number of employees by about ten percent by combining voluntary layoffs with the natural cycle and involuntary layoffs when needed," Calhoun wrote in an e-mailed message to Reuters.
He added that Boeing will need to make greater discounts in sectors that are more exposed to the conditions of our commercial customers ... more than 15 percent at the level of commercial aircraft and service activities as well as the operations of our company.
It is worth noting that Boeing employs about 160,000 worldwide.
