Toyota Motor Company set a record for the global production of cars during the month of November last; It produced 833,104 vehicles, an increase of 1.5% over the same month of the previous year.

According to Bloomberg, Toyota said global sales rose 2.9% to 796,484 units.

That record production comes thanks to strong consumer demand, although it warned of an uncertain outlook due to persistent semiconductor shortages and spikes in Covid cases in China.

Auto production reflects strong demand in regions such as North America, and a recovery from a year earlier when Covid infections in Southeast Asia disrupted supply chains. The auto industry is still short of chips and parts, while it will also face challenges brought by the rapid spread of COVID cases across China.

In early November, Toyota lowered its global production target for the fiscal year to March, while sticking to conservative profit forecasts due to chip shortages.

Toyota's domestic production for November fell 3.3% from a year earlier to 266,174 units, while overseas production increased 3.8% to 566,930 units, according to the statement.
