Today, Tuesday, Kuwait's Jazeera Airways placed an order for 28 Airbus A320neo aircraft, worth more than $3.3 billion, at the Dubai Airshow.
According to Arab Net, Jazeera Airways CEO Rohit Ramachandran said that the value of the company's order includes the purchase of 20 A320neo aircraft and 8 A321neo aircraft.
The company's chairman, Marwan Boodai, said this month that his company was in talks to buy 30 Airbus A320neo or Boeing 737 Max aircraft in a deal worth up to $2 billion.
Boodai indicated the company's desire to operate its entire fleet of aircraft, which currently stands at 17, for a period of 14 hours per day, compared to 10 hours currently, expecting that normal operation will take place with the opening of various markets by the third quarter of next year.
Boodai explained that Jazeera Airways has expanded to new destinations, including Heathrow Airport in London, and therefore the price curve has increased due to the presence of new stations.
Jazeera Airways turned to profitability in the third quarter of this year, achieving profits of about 12 million dinars, compared to losses incurred in the corresponding period of last year, which amounted to 5.6 million dinars.
This comes with the easing of travel restrictions and the increase in the number of restaurants in the State of Kuwait and across the network of destinations it serves. The number of passengers increased in the third quarter by 361.8% to about 300,000 passengers.
