Twitter, the social networking site, encountered technical problems that prevented some users from tweeting on Wednesday.

According to Arabiya.net, some account holders received a message stating: You have exceeded the daily limit for sending tweets.

Outage tracking website DownDetector reported the glitch at 10pm GMT.

For months, experts have warned that large job cuts could cause technical problems, although it was not yet clear whether a reduction in staffing was the reason for the outage on Wednesday.

And the CEO and new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, has taken many decisions since the acquisition of the social media platform, as part of his plan to cut costs, as more than half of the company's workforce has been laid off.

It appears that part of the outage was fixed a few hours ago, with several users reporting that they could tweet, according to the BBC.

Some reported being notified by Twitter that they had exceeded the limit of 2,400 tweets per day, even if they did not post anything on Wednesday.

Account holders have also reported problems with Twitter messages, with several users saying they can't access TweetDeck - a control panel that can be used with Twitter.

And the social networking platform said: Twitter may not work as expected for some of you.. We regret the problem.. We are aware of this and are working to fix it.

In addition, Twitter announced that users of the $ 8-a-month subscription service in the United States can now post longer tweets.

Twitter Blue subscribers can now post up to 4,000 characters, far more than the 280-character limit imposed on non-paying users.

At the same time, DownDetector also reported an outage on YouTube, which at its peak affected 65,000 users.

In a tweet, YouTube, which is owned by Alphabet (Google's parent company), said it was investigating reports that the site's homepage was down for some.
