Meta, the world's largest social media platform, has registered a trademark with the Brazilian authorities to design, develop and provide hardware and software for various Bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrency related services .
Meta recently rebranded it from Facebook as a move to better align with developments in metaverse despite regulatory hurdles it faced during its many previous attempts to enter the cryptocurrency space.< /p>
To speed up this effort, Meta has registered a trademark with the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) for cryptocurrency products and services related to trading, wallets and exchanges.
Further investigations by Coin Telegraph reveal a translated version of the specifications about products and services to be registered as a trademark of Meta.
Meta published the application on January 25, and is currently awaiting opposition before approval from the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property.
According to the submitted document, a trademark application for Meta was filed on October 5, 2021, from Jamaica.
