Maersk Kanoo Emirates, the global integrated logistics company, announced today, Thursday, that it has reached an agreement with Dubai South, the largest urban project focused on the aviation, logistics and real estate sectors, to establish its new warehousing and distribution facility in Dubai.
The agreement was signed by Christopher Cook, Managing Director of Maersk Emirates, and Mohsen Ahmed, Executive Director of the Logistics District in Dubai South, at the regional headquarters of Maersk West and Central Asia in Dubai.
The 162,000-square-foot Maersk Integrated Logistics Center in the Dubai South Logistics District will be able to provide 15,000 pallet locations and 10,000 container storage locations. The facility will also serve as a center for implementation and completion of operations, the Emirati newspaper Al Khaleej reported.
Typically, the shipping, logistics and distribution business is shared between many parties in the Middle East, resulting in complex logistical requirements.
Keen to provide a seamless experience and an integrated logistical solution to its customers, Maersk has strategically invested in warehousing and distribution facilities, as well as providing sea and land transportation services.
Having opened its first dedicated 108,000-square-foot facility in Dubai in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in March of this year, Maersk will double its overall presence in the UAE through its new Center for Operations and Execution.
The Maersk Integrated Logistics Center in Dubai South is scheduled to become operational later this month. It will allow it to operate a hybrid model of customs and non-duty warehouses, catering to different customer needs, including an Operations Fulfillment Center to support end-to-end e-commerce solutions.
This facility will also play an important role in supporting Maersk's existing services, including ocean freight, land transportation, customs clearance and other operations and services. Customers will benefit from the company's integrated solutions, reduced deliveries of goods during their journey, leading to faster delivery, better tracking, as well as better control and optimization of supply chain flow.
