Argentina's Economy Minister Martin Guzman resigned on Saturday, in a blow to a government suffering from escalating economic crises.
Guzman, who led Argentina's debt restructuring deal with the International Monetary Fund and creditors, posted a message on his Twitter account announcing his decision.
Guzman said in a letter to President Alberto Fernandez that I am writing to tender my resignation as Minister of Economy.
The government's approval rating is at its lowest since it took office in 2019. Inflation is above 60% and the peso is under increasing pressure. Sovereign bonds fell.
There is a state of skepticism among citizens about the economy and internal bickering in the ruling coalition between moderates such as Guzmán and a more hardline faction.
Guzman said there must be a political agreement within the ruling coalition to choose a successor.
