Weiz and its German partner Biontech managed to produce 3 billion doses of the Covid-19 vaccine next year, making the vaccines more widely available around the world.
According to ArabiaNet, CEO of the German company Biontek Ugur Shaheen added in an interview with Bloomberg TV: In principle, we can increase the manufacturing capacity further. It depends on the demand, and it depends on factors such as whether there is a need for an additional payment for vaccinations, according to what Al-Arabiya.net has seen.
Shaheen explained that the company already has orders of 1.3 billion doses.
Pfizer and Biontech have committed to providing 2 billion doses of their vaccine this year. Pfizer has also promised to ship two-thirds of the US order of 300 million doses by the end of May, as well as at least 500 million doses to the European Union this year, with an option of 100 million additional doses.
Pfizer expected that its revenues will reach about $ 15 billion this year from sales of the Corona vaccine, while CEO Albert Burla said that the price of the vaccine may rise.
Shaheen stressed the company's ability to meet the demands, saying: I am completely confident that we will be able to provide vaccines in Europe and the United States and that everyone who needs a vaccine will receive it by the end of the summer, provided that there is no imbalance in production. Adding that by 2022, we hope to have enough vaccination around the world.
