The Italian company Eni, specialized in exploration and energy, announced the discovery of a new oil well in the Western Desert in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The company said in a statement on its website, yesterday, Wednesday, that the newly discovered well will increase production capacity in the Mleiha concession by 10 thousand barrels of oil per day.

The new discovery was reached through the Arsadia 9 well, which is located 1.5 km south of the Arsadia field, which has already started production, and its production capacity reaches about 5,500 Barrels of oil per day.

The company said that the successful implementation of the exploration strategy in Western Sahara through the Agiba initiative, a joint venture between the company and the Egyptian Petroleum Authority, rapidly enhances the value of these resources.

and Eni owns through one of its subsidiaries, Leuc Company a share in the field of 38%, and another company, Lukoil, owns about 12%, while the share of the Egyptian Petroleum Authority 50%.

The company announced last summer, a similar oil discovery in the field, and the field began production in mid-2019, and its total capacity is currently 12 thousand barrels of oil per day.

Eni has been operating in Egypt since 1954, until it became the main producer there, and the company's current production of hydrocarbons there is about 320,000 barrels per day.
