A German newspaper reported that the number of workers that will be laid off by Lufthansa Airlines will reach 29,000 by the end of the year.
According to CNBC Arabia, the newspaper stated that the company will cancel ten thousand jobs inside the country next year while fighting the repercussions of the Corona virus.
Lufthansa and its units have reduced Euro-Wings, Swiss and Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines, their flights, fleets and employees, amid expectations that air travel will not return to pre-pandemic levels until 2025.
Bild am Sonntag, citing unnamed company sources, said that Lufthansa will cut 20,000 jobs outside Germany and sell its catering unit LSG, which employs 7500 people, reducing the total number of employees to 109 thousand.
The newspaper added that the company will cut another 10,000 jobs in Germany next year and that it has already spent 3 billion euros (3.64 billion dollars) of the 9 billion euros of government aid that I got it earlier this year.
