Saudi Aramco has completed its acquisition of a 49% stake in Humane AI, through cash contributions of approximately 9.9 billion riyals ($2.6 billion) during 2026, along with the transfer of assets in the fields of artificial intelligence, computing and digital technologies, in a move aimed at accelerating the company’s expansion locally and globally.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund retains a 51% majority stake in Humane, while the two parties will oversee the company’s growth plans and business expansion, according to a joint statement issued Sunday.

The deal comes about a year after the fund and Aramco announced, in October 2025, the signing of a non-binding memorandum of understanding paving the way for the Saudi oil company to acquire a significant minority stake in Humanine, as part of a plan to consolidate the two parties’ artificial intelligence assets and capabilities under the company’s umbrella.

3 GW data centers

The deal supports Humane's plans to develop AI data centers with a capacity of up to 3 gigawatts by 2030, as part of its efforts to meet the growing demand for computing capabilities regionally and globally, and to expand its presence in the AI infrastructure market.

The company, launched by the Public Investment Fund in May 2025, is working to build an integrated system that includes next-generation data centers, high-performance computing infrastructure, cloud services, advanced artificial intelligence models, along with specialized applications and solutions.

Its products include the Allam AI model in Arabic, while the fund previously transferred ownership of the Saudi AI company Sky to Humane, in a move aimed at unifying its capabilities and investments in the sector.

The deal is part of the Public Investment Fund’s efforts to consolidate artificial intelligence assets and enhance integration among its investments, in line with its 2026–2030 strategy, which aims to maximize asset value, accelerate the growth of national companies, and enhance their global competitiveness.

Industrial applications of artificial intelligence

For Aramco, the partnership allows it to leverage Humane’s AI infrastructure to translate advanced AI capabilities into industrial applications, further enhancing its global business ecosystem and operations. As a shareholder and strategic partner, Saudi Aramco, along with its subsidiaries, will benefit from Humane’s AI infrastructure, solutions, and services. By providing opportunities for revenue growth and increased profit margins, the deal will strengthen Saudi Aramco’s investment in AI and digital technologies, support its overall strategy, and complement its core role in the energy sector.

Amin Nasser, President and CEO of Saudi Aramco, said that the value the company has generated from the use of technology since 2023 has reached 42.4 billion riyals, a large part of which came from technological solutions, particularly artificial intelligence.

The statement added that this partnership with the Public Investment Fund undoubtedly reinforces Aramco’s leading global position in the field of technology and artificial intelligence, and lays the foundation for localizing this industry and using artificial intelligence systems more quickly, in a more integrated and scalable manner.

For his part, Yazeed Al-Humaid, Deputy Governor and Head of Investments in the Middle East and North Africa at the Public Investment Fund, said that unifying the artificial intelligence assets of the Fund and Aramco within Humane will help to enhance innovation, develop national competencies and intellectual property, as well as expand partnership opportunities with the private sector.

The deal reflects Saudi Arabia’s pursuit of building integrated local capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence, starting from data centers and computing infrastructure, to the development of models and applications, while aiming to attract new investments and take advantage of the growing global demand for these technologies.
