The consumer price index in Saudi Arabia rose 0.2% on a monthly basis in November and 1.1% on an annual basis, according to what was announced by the General Authority for Statistics


According to Arabiya Net, the authority attributed the rise in inflation on an annual basis to an increase in transportation prices by 5.7% and food and beverage prices by 1.6%.


Transport prices were affected by the increase in operating prices of personal transport equipment by 21.9%, which in turn was affected by the increase in gasoline prices by 47.9%, and the rise in this section had a significant impact on the increase in annual inflation due to its weight in the index.


The Food and Beverage section recorded an increase of 1.6 percent, affected by the increase in food prices by 1.7 percent in particular. Vegetable prices increased by 0.7% in November 2021.


The Communications Department also recorded an increase of 1.4%, affected by the increase in the prices of telephone and fax services by 2.3%.
